A university super app that pulls every campus service into one place — adopted as METU's new official mobile app.
Campus life was scattered across a dozen separate systems — class schedules, assignment uploads, cafeteria menus, ring bus times, card balance, health centre queues — each with its own login and its own page.
METU App consolidates them into a single hub with one customised home page per user type: student, staff, instructor, visitor. After the course ended, the Rectorate and a Computer Engineering student team picked the design up to develop and replace the existing METU mobile app.
Forty-two campus users across five groups — 15 students, 11 technopolis staff, 8 staff, 5 visitors and 4 instructors — condensed into three working personas: Onur, Mahmut and Sibel.
Different groups broke on different things: a first-year could not find class locations or ring schedules, a secretary had no way to reach active ring data or staff contacts, an instructor could not check parking or vegan meal options. The common thread was information that existed but was unreachable in the moment.
Creating initial concepts and iterating on the user interface with applying user reasearch and testing led the UI to its final form.
